Real Amish Buggy Rides


Amish buggy and homeNo trip to Amish country is complete without a buggy ride in a real Amish buggy. Sit back and relax as a local Amish driver gives you a ride throughout the farm grounds.

You’ll enjoy the opportunity to visit with a friendly driver and learn a bit about the Amish people of Holmes County.

Rides are available Monday through Saturday April thru October from 10 am to 5 pm. So stop in on your next visit and enjoy this unique experience.

Ride the Amish Farm Express Train


Everyone enjoys a train ride and now at Schrocks the entire family can board Amish Train Rideour 16 gauge train and enjoy a ride.

This ride will travel at a maximum speed of 17 miles per hour and cover more than 1 mile. You will depart from the depot located next to the Antique mall and travel through the wooded area of the farm and past three ponds where the driver will feed the fish as you go by, and go through a tunnel.

This relaxing ride is about 15 minutes in length and is available Monday thru Saturday April- October. The first ride each day departs at 11 am and the last one of the day departs 30 minutes prior to closing. So bring the kids and grandma and grandpa for a ride on the Amish Farm Express! Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult of 18 or older.

Tour an Amish Home


Have you ever wondered how the Amish really live? Now you can enjoy a self guided tour of an Amish home at Schrocks.

Tour this Amish HomeThis home was formerly the home of an Amish bishop who along with his wife raised 11 children here. The home was built in 1848 and remodeled to show todays’ Amish lifestyle. Many people are surprised at the nice homes the Amish live in.

There is a lot of interesting history about this home available to read as you move from room to room. This home will show you the lifestyle of two different types of Amish that live here in Holmes County.

Currently there are more than 10 Amish groups that live in our area with the most known group beingTour an Amish Home called the Old Order Amish. Throughout the home you will read about the unique lifestyles and about various ways the Amish do things. You will learn the why behind the traditions as well as the traditions themselves.

Alma who is often in the kitchen baking cookies and making candy will be happy to visit with you and answer any questions you may have.

The home is available Monday through Saturday (April-October) at 10 am and tours are available untill 4:30 each day. When you plan to visit the home please allow at least 30 minutes.

If you are planning to visit Schrocks Amish farm and Village and want to enjoy every aspect of the farm and shops please allow no less than 3-4 hours.

Rides are available at schedule times only and the home tour is self guided at your own pace, plus there are 11 shops and some animals the kids will want to play with. If you are arriving after 3 pm any day and want to do it all, we would suggest that the tour and rides be done first with the remaining time at the shops. Please be aware that you will not have sufficient time to do it all if you do not allow 3-4 hours.
